Marking – Label each item. If an item must be dismantled to be moved, be sure to tag all parts.

Desks – Label the desk on the top surface.

    A. LABELING
    1. Every item to be moved must have a label on it.
    2. If an item must be dismantled to be moved, be sure to label all parts. Example: PCs should have a label on the monitor, CPU and keyboard.

    B. DESKS AND CREDENZAS
    1. Label the desk on the top surface.
    2. Your desk will be placed on end to be moved. Pack all desk contents.
    3. Place small items such as pens, clips, rubber bands, etc. in an envelope and put in one of your move cartons.
    4. Glass tops on desks - place separate label on lower right hand corner.
      • a. Remove all papers from under glass.
        b. Remember you must label the desk and the glass or desk mat.

    C. FILE CABINETS
    1. Vertical (standard) file cabinets can be moved full. It is not necessary to pack contents. Be sure all pressure plates are moved forward.
    2. Lateral file cabinets - you may leave the bottom two drawers full. All drawers above the bottom two must be packed.
    3. If your cabinet has a lock to which you have a key, lock the file cabinet prior to moving. Be sure to store the key where it can be easily located after the move. If you do not have the key, please wrap packing tape around the lock until the lock can no longer be forced into a locking position. This prevents accidental locking during the move.
    4. All wooden file cabinets must be empty.

    D. BOOKCASES
    1. Contents are to be removed and packed into cartons.
    2. If your bookshelves are held in place by small metal or plastic pins or brackets, please remove the shelves then remove all of the pins or brackets. Place them in a sealed envelope and pack them in one of your moving cartons. Don't forget to label each shelf with the same label color and number as your bookcase.

    E. LARGE METAL SUPPLY (AND/OR OTHER) CABINETS
    1. Remove all contents and pack into cartons.
    2. Label all cartons with the same color and number as the cabinet.

    F. PERSONAL COMPUTERS, PRINTERS, FAX MACHINES AND MISCELLANEOUS TECHNOLOGY
    1. Unplug all equipment from the power source and from other peripheral equipment.
    2. Place all cables, cords, power strips, etc. in a plastic bag and label with destination number.
    3. Place a label on each piece; monitor, CPU and bag with keyboard, mouse and cables.
    4. Make sure each piece of equipment has been properly serviced for moving, if any servicing is required.
    5. We cannot move laptop computers or PDAs. We will move any docking stations or cradles. Please take the responsibility to get your laptops and PDAs to your new location.

    G. PACKING CARTONS
    1. Place label on either END of the carton, NOT the top, bottom or sides.
    2. Cartons are stacked when moved. Please do not overpack. "Domed" cartons don't move well. Cartons do not require packing tape.
    3. Items too large to fit into cartons should be handled as needed and/or labeled with the designated move label.

    H. COPIERS
    1. All required servicing must be completed prior to moving. Contact your vendor to arrange this and to arrange any necessary service after the move.

    I. CHAIRS
    1. Place label somewhere that it sticks, not on chair fabric. It is better to have a label on the chair base where it sticks than to have the label fall off.

    J. WHITE BOARDS AND BULLETIN BOARDS
    1. Remove all items from bulletin boards. Place label where it will stick.

    K. PERSONAL ITEMS
    1. Personal items such as small photographs, personal plants, awards, plaques and other knickknacks should be placed in a carton and taken home. Pacific Movers cannot be responsible for these items, including laptop PCs.

    L. ARTWORK
    1. Pacific Movers or other professionals should professionally pack larger, valuable paintings, sculptures and other artwork. Small pieces of artwork can be labeled. Please leave artwork on walls for Pacific to remove.

    M. MISCELLANEOUS
    1. It is necessary to label carpet protectors (chair pads) and wastebaskets.
    2. Please empty your wastebaskets prior to the move!
    3. Labels are easily removed and will not leave any residue if removed immediately following move completion.
    4. MOVE PREPARATION TIME IS A GREAT TIME TO CLEAN OUT YOUR WORK AREA! If you have not used it since your last move, you probably never will. Don't move items that you no longer need.

YOU ARE A KEY INGREDIENT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE MOVE.
