Well in advance (4 to 6 weeks)….

• Decide which household goods will be appropriate to ship and which will need to be stored or donated.
• Plan a move program with your moving company. Discuss packing, inventories, potential storage, and time frame for the move.
• Buy an organizer for all of your move information.
• Arrange for an appraisal of your valuables.
• Notify your insurance agent and ask about a transfer of your policy and coverage related to moving (health, auto, home, life).
• Start collecting boxes and packing supplies. Ask us for assistance!

• Notify the post office of your new address and arrange for mail forwarding.
• Cancel subscriptions for newspapers, cable TV and notify utilities of your service termination date.
• Set up utility accounts at your new residence.
• Consider having rugs and draperies cleaned.

• Call your mover and confirm your move date.
• Separate items not to be shipped from those to be transported by the moving company.
• Designate which boxes/items are needed immediately upon arrival at your new home so the movers can locate them easily.
• Leave a forwarding address for the new occupants at your old residence.
• Arrange to have your new home professionally cleaned.
